Big news from the News of the North newsroom

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - There were a couple of announcements regarding News of the North on Thursday's Action Line program.

    Former Print Journalist and Photographer Klas Stolpe has been named news director.   He's been producing sports stories for the Juneau Radio Center in recent months.  Stolpe was born and raised in Petersburg.

    Kevin Allen, who was elected to the Juneau School Board in 2018 and took a job in the newsroom late last year made an announcement at a school board meeting this week about his future plans.   He said on the Action Line program that he informed his board colleagues of his intention not to seek reelection this year. 

    Allen is interested in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism and also possibly resuming his education.

      The Sitka Tribe of Alaska is pleased to offer Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act need based assistance for Tribal Citizen/ AK Native or American Indian Sitka community households impacted by the COVID pandemic. The assistance available is $500 per household paid directly to a vendor to cover the mortgage, rent, utilities, heating fuel, or boat moorage costs, invoice verification is required and must be submitted with the application.
