
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for Haines and Skagway and put out a high wind alert for parts of Southeast on Friday.
The forecast calls for between five and nine inches of snow in Haines, Skagway and White Pass on Saturday.
The windy weather is expected in much of the Panhandle on Saturday afternoon and evening. Gusts could reach 40 to 55 miles per hour.
The NWS said the strongest winds will be felt in the outer coastal areas including Ketchikan.
Travel will be difficult and residents are asked to secure their items and boats.
