Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Smoothly is the word used by the Permanent Fund Dividend Division in the State Department of Revenue to describe the 2021 application period to date.

We spoke with Operations Manager Corey Bigelow Tuesday afternoon who said they are receiving a high amount of applications.

On the opening day January 1 they received nearly 17,000 applications.  As of mid-day Tuesday, they have received 127,000 filed applications.

Bigelow said that compares with just under 109,000 applications last year at this time.

The application period opened on New Year's Day morning. The deadline is at 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
