Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Work is now complete on two new steel bridges on the Windfall Lake Trail in the Tongass National Forest.
The US Forest Service said the trail leads to a recently renovated Windfall Lake Cabin.
This cabin is the most highly used cabin in the forest.
The first bridge was completed in September 2019 and the second bridge was completed on August 31.
The cabin renovations were completed Monday.
The Rasmuson Foundation provided a grant to help with the costs of the cabin maintenance.
The Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act provided part of the $790,000 total cost.
The Forest Service projects the improvements will create 44 new jobs and more than $2 million in economic benefits.
The popular Juneau trail provides access to the cabin and the recreational sockeye fishery at the Herbert Riber. Fishing is allowed on the outlet stream from the lake on Wednesdays and Saturdays during June.
