
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Two ceremonies will be held in Juneau in observance of Memorial Day.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Taku Post 5559 will be holding a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery downtown, and American Legion Post 25 will be holding their ceremony at the Alaska Memorial Park.
Both events begin at 11 a.m.
The ceremony at Evergreen will have the Taku Posts Chaplin, Kirk Thorsteinson, providing the invocation and benediction. The keynote speaker will be Taku Posts Howard Colbert.
At Alaska Memorial Park, Reverend Aaron Spratt from Faith Lutheran Church will be giving the invocation of the benediction. Captain Darwin Jensen, Commander of Coast Guard Sector Juneau will be the keynote speaker.
Following the ceremonies, the American Legion Post will be holding an open house and chili feed at mile 13 of the Veterans Memorial Highway between the Auke Bay and the ferry terminal. The event will be open to veterans, families, and the public.
