Haines PD, Troopers nab man wanted for sex crimes in Idaho

    Haines, Alaska (KINY) - An Idaho man is under arrest in Haines after felony charges were filed against him.

    According to a press release, the Haines Borough Police Department was notified by the Bonner County Sherriff’s Department in Idaho that 38-year-old Christopher Panagiotou-Scigliano had an outstanding arrest warrant.

    The warrant charged Panagiotou-Scigliano with two counts of Rape with the victim being 16 or 17 years of age and Child Sexual Battery Committed by Lewd or Lascivious Acts on a Minor Child 16 to 17 Years of Age.

    On Sept. 7, at about 1 p.m., HBPD officers, Alaska State Troopers, and deputies from the Bonner County Sherriff’s Department contacted Panagiotou-Scigliano at the Chilkat Lake landing.

    Panagiotou-Scigliano was additionally charged with being a Fugitive from Justice and transported to and lodged at the Haines Rural Jail Facility.

    Panagiotou-Scigliano will be transported to Lemon Creek Correctional Center pending extradition.
