Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The assembly took a huge step toward providing a large part of the cost to build a new Glory Hall on Monday.
The assembly introduced an ordinance to appropriate $2.3 million to the Glory Hall to construct a new facility in the valley. It will include a new emergency shelter, care center and meal distribution facility.
The estimated cost of the facility is $5 million. Supporters have raised over $500,000 from donors in the community.
They expect to receive further support from the Rasmuson Foundation and the Alaska Mental Health Trust.
The complex will also include a new southeast community services campus that serves elders, youth, and low income community members and people experiencing disabilities.
