
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The U.S. Small Business Administration Alaska District has announced the winners of its annual awards program as part of National Small Business Week, Sept. 20-26.
A local business owner, Christy NaMee Eriksen of Kindred Post, has been named Alaska Small Business Person of the Year.
Eriksen is a multidisciplinary poet, teaching artist, and organizer whose work is grounded in social justice and community engagement.
According to the award citation, "She is passionate about the power of art to tell stories, bring people together, and activate positive social change. "
Small Business Person of the Year winners from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam will virtually converge in Washington, D.C. Sept. 22-24 when one of them will be selected as the National Small Business Person of the Year.
