Fisherman charged with taking undersized crabs

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A Juneau crab fisherman is accused of illegal fishing.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted 54-year-old Daniel Zeik on his fishing vessel the Blueback during a routine offload inspection of commercially taken Tanner Crabs.

Investigation revealed Zeik was in possession of undersized crabs and a sport caught halibut while also possessing commercial product which was destined for sale.  

The Trooper dispatch says Zeik was issued two strict liability citations.   He now has a mandatory court appearance in Juneau District Court.
